Sugar Cookie Experimenting

Like I said in my previous post, I've been experimenting with sugar cookies. Found a wonderful recipe that my kids loved. Recipe can be found here.  The cookies turned out perfectly and taste wonderful.  Next mission was finding an easy recipe for Royal Icing.  This one seemed to be easy and it tasted great.

Now finding good recipes isn't always the easy part.  Decorating isn't as easy as one might think, and I have to say that decorating cookies is different than decorating cakes.  I'm gonna  need a lot of practice.  So for the time being, this isn't going to be one of our menu items, but it is something I'm working on.  So stay tuned...

Been a while...

I forget I have this blog and so I forget to update it.  Yeah, I suck at this some days.  I've had a few orders in the past couple weeks and some are now my new favorites.  Here are a few of those.

A going away cake for a good friend.

This was one of my favorite orders.  I was a so afraid I wouldn't be able to deliver what I promised, but it turned out even better than I imagined.

My first brush embroidery cake.  I need lots more practice but I think it turned out pretty good considering it was my first try.

Not one of my best cakes.  I couldn't get my minions shaped the way I wanted.  So again, more practice needed.

These two cakes were a double order for a father and daughter.  He ordered the daughter's cake and his wife contacted me later to order a second cake for him as a surprise since his birthday is the day after his daughter's.

My next endeavor is going to be mastering the art of sugar cookies.  For some reason I can make just about any cookie, but sugar cookies seem to elude me.  Some of the cutest designs have been popping up all over the internet lately and it makes me want to give it a shot.  So hopefully my next post will be a successful batch of darling sugar cookies.

Another ICP cake...

Made a cake for one of my daughter's friends.  He's an ICP fan too.  My 9 year old actually came up with the idea to make the top peel off.  It's a technique I need to work on, but I think it still looks ok.

Fun stuff...

Got some fun new things for a cake order I have to work on this week.  Love getting new toys.

A Few New Cakes

This one was for a special friend, who really likes ICP.  He loved it.

My first time trying a Baby Bump cake.  This one was done with bowls, so the shapes aren't as perfect as I'd like.  I will be trying again with my new pans.

I've had my heart pans for a while and have never even tried them out.  I figured now was the best time to try out some Valentine designs.
